7. I give thanks to the little Virgin of San Juan who has given me good clients in spite of the street where I work being little traveled.  I ask that she never foresake me because this is the way I live.

When my old lady and I were coming back from work on our land we were taken by a strong electrical storm and a ray struck her and thinking that she was going to die, I calledupon San Antonio with all my heart that she would not die and as he granted me this miracle, I dedicate this ofering as a testimony of my eternal gratitude.

My sister Lupe and I were returning a little late from the home of our Aunt Josefina to the Rancho de la Gloria when our path was blocked by some bad guys who began to bother and follow us with bad intentions and frightened, we commended our honor to the Virgin of Zapopan and she made some workers from the rancho show up and the bad guys left.

6. I give thanks to Saint Sebastian for having made me the miracle of finding a good woman so understanding of me that she would carry out all of my fantasies such as punishing me before making love and for this we are very happy.

14.  In the city of Pinotepa National the day of the most strong earthquake at 10:30 at night, my wife and I found ourselves still sleeping when the earth began to shake and split the houses and ceiling putting us in danger.  I put our trust in the Virgin of Soledad of Oaxaca who most surely saved us from death. DESCRIPTION

Ex Votos (also called retablos) are painted tin, usually thanking a saint for giving the painter a miracle. With other of our favorite ex voto artists pricing themselves beyond our customers' willingness to pay, we are grateful to find Gustavo Villeda. We feel his work is every bit as good as any we have seen and his sense of humor is definitely intact.  The translations on these are rough.
