Ex Votos on Paper by Velez

	In the year of 1868, January 17, I stand seriously sick in the middle of a forest after having been beaten and robbed by bandits. I, Senior Augustin Guerrero, asked the Archangel Prince, St. Michael, to take my life and heal it. And having been granted this petition, I have made this retablo in gratitude.


	I, Rolando Villavicencio Rosas, being a prisoner for a crime that I did not commit, I implored the St Nino de Atocha to liberate me, which he granted and for this I make this retablo.

DESCRIPTION	These exvotos (also called retablos) are painted in water colors on paper and then framed in wood. Both pieces are signed by the artist, Velez.
