Giant Catrinas by Juan Torres

Updated  September 6, 2007

If you have ever tried to ship or even transport these pieces, you will appreciate how very fragile they are.  For this reason, we will only ship these through an experienced art shipper. This special care can cost anywhere between $100 - $200 apiece depending on where they are being shipped to.

DESCRIPTION

Juan Torres is a master artist of Capula, Michoacan. These pieces are hand formed and painted clay and has been fired twice. Unlike most other Capula pieces, these are done in a matte finish. In Capula, the skeletal women are all called "Catrina" even if they do not look at all like Jose Posada's lady. You might try pairing one of these ladies with one of these men.
