Guillermina Aguilar is the oldest of the sisters. She was born in 1943 in the small village of Ocotlan, and as a little girl, her mother taught her the magic of making things from cleay. Soon she was making figures of the people she read about in the bible or the women she saw selling in the markets, never ever thinking that this magic given to her by her mother would play such an important part of her life. Guillermina and her husband, Leopoldo had ten children (some of whom also make wonderful things from clay) and have more than fifteen grandchildren. Like her sisters, she is a very small woman, gentle, wise, and hospitable. Her style is crude and folk-arty until you look carefully at the faces--especially on her smallest pieces. They are truely beautiful and expressive.
