Josefina Aguilar is two years younger that her oldest sister, Guillermina, and is celebrated around the world as one of the leading female folk artists.
Her clay figures with their primitive and innocent faces, which many say look like Josefina herself, have remained the same since she began making them as a little girl. Josefina's mother also taught her this unique talent, hoping she would be able to use it her entire life. Josefina has been the recipient of many awards, diplomas, and even a children's book titled Josefina published in 1997, which is available in our gallery. Like her parents, Josefina has also taught her family members to create figures in clay.
