Trees of Death From Capula

Updated November 11, 2007

1 2 3 4

DESCRIPTION

These trees of death are hand crafted by an artist in Capula, Michoacan. A tree of death is as much a celebration of life as is a tree of life, this time a celebration of past lives--people we hold dear who have left us. Close scrutiny of these pieces will show many flaws since these pieces are formed of clay by hand, sun dried, glazed and then fired only once in brick kilns heated by a wood fire.  Most flaws are created in the kiln.
